Biography
It all started back in 1993, when we decided to carry out a project we had been working in for two or three years: Archive Magazine. We were only able to publish four issues, whose release was plenty of blood, sweat and tears, as any dark magazine should be, hehehe. After a blackout of some years, from that previous magazine and taking advantage of the brand new (at that time) Internet, laletracapital took form: our own website, which we have been managing for almost ten years now (since 2003). Our original idea was, in one hand, to make/do what we like (meaning writing about the arts able to touch us deep in our hearts, mainly music) and, on the other hand, to promote as many interesting concerts, bands and releases as we can. That is where we are at. Spending as much time as we can on it (this is obviously a non-profit project) and trying to put on paper (well, on bytes) the shivers that music sends down our spine..

From the second wave to the third wave:
It is hard for me to talk about that “transition”. I am not sure about the limits of the Gothic Rock genre, so I would say it is really tough to distinguish amongst a second or a third wave. I have got the feeling that everything is part of a continuum. Anyway, as I see it, there has been a lot of mixture in the last few years, so it is again difficult to say what fits into the genre, and what does not. And that is a good thing. I discovered this genre when the second wave –so to call it– was starting. That is the reason why I got into those new bands and the classic ones at the same time. Later on, meaning since 2000, I found very few new bands that caught my eye as it used to happen back at the beginning of the Nineties. If I am in need of some surprising-fresh style I need to look for bands which practice a different kind of music, somehow related, but which could never be considered as Pure Goth Rock bands. Besides, we have so many revivals and returns of the classics that, as I see it, we have to do a hard work as listeners and critics.

As a conclusion, I was old enough when this transition amongst the Second Wave and the Third Wave happened. I was not tired of it, but I was experienced enough not to be really impressed, at least not as much as I was when I was twenty years old.

Nevertheless, in the last years some bands have appeared that, besides recovering the splendor and greatness of the genre, seem to be interested in being creative, making good songs and not trying to imitate what has been done and repeated again and again. I do not know if this should be called a “New Wave”, but there is a difference between the lack of quality we have had to suffer for many, –too many– years and these new bands.

Future is full of hope, or at least it is brighter than it looked like five or six years ago. The resources now are better than ever, specially on the artistic level (the industry issue is another story). Today, if you live in Spain, you can easily listen to a band from Lithuania. Today, anyone can record a CD and that fact, despite the amount of piddling it generates, guarantee somehow that the true talent sees the light of the day, and it is not restrained by economical, geographical or any other handicap. And that is a very good thing. We must wait and see what comes out of all of this, and we hope this good vibe does not get lost.
