Biography

Midnight Caine was formed in 2007 with the drive to make dark, atmospheric, dynamic and eerie music.  The bands goal is to create and bring to life that certain ambience which is significant for Midnight Caine. Midnight Caine is a rockn roll band but also a deeper atmospheric, suggestive musical experience. The music and lyrics touch upon visions, dreams, passions and the mysteries of life and death. inspiration has been drawn from the mystical and occult side of the Victorian era and from ancient myths and esotericism.

The band has since the start in 2007 gone through some reformations. In the early phase of the bands development only consisting of the two founders, Fredrik Andrén and Joakim Galle, Midnight Caine was one of the winners in the Garden Of Delight Cover Contest, with the song Spirit Invocation and took part on the  album A Tribute to G.O.D. In 2008 other musicians joined the band and the first album started to take form. The band enterred the studio to record the debut and during this time the band started to reform. In 2009 the bands lineup changed and new musicians were recruited, who were able to take the band to another level of improvement and later on the debut album was finished. At once the band started to work on the second album which was released in 2010. Again Midnight Caine started to transform and in early 2011 the band became a trio. Even though it has been busy and messy times since the start, the true energy of Midnight Caine has always been a present force. The music of Midnight Caine is said to have several elements. Sometimes a crossover between genres. Since the musicans of the band come from different musical backgrunds with different experience its a natural thing for the band to not lock themselves to a certain form.

Por fin, tras meses de espera llega a mis manos el tercer trabajo de esta banda sueca fuertemente influenciada por bandas como Fields of the Nephilim en su versión A.D y de unos Garden of Delight del nuevo milenio, una combinación bastante poética musicalmente hablando, aunque en “Mirrors” han decidido apostar por encontrar su propio camino y acercarse mas a un estilo mas personal y complejo. Hace un mes que recibí este disco y como me pasa con algunos discos este año, es difícil decir cual tema destaca ya que todos brillan por si solos, quizás el tema mas que me llamo la atención desde un principio fue “Eremita” que desde mi punto de vista se trata de una versión – tributo al tema “And There Will Your Heart Be Also"  de FOTN. Es un hecho que Midnight Caine esta creciendo a pasos agigantados y su nombre ya es una referencia en la escena sueca y desde luego se están haciendo un hueco en el underground europeo. Tendré la suerte de compartir cartel con ellos en febrero y será un placer ver a uno de los referentes a tener en cuenta esta nueva década que para cualquier fan de este “Gothic Rock” influenciado por las bandas antes mencionadas, Midnight Caine es un nombre casi obligado. Este trabajo contiene temas bastante acelerados para lo que nos tenían acostumbrados, rozando de alguna manera el “Gothic Metal”, aveces es inevitable escuchar a unos EverEve de “Regret” (fans del Regret, os vais hacer unas cuantas con este). Este es el elemento que lo hace diferente a sus anteriores trabajos, ademas la banda esta en su punto álgido, ha valido la pena larga espera. “Mirrors” es fresco, intenso, detallista y en algunas ocasiones atmosférico sin dejar de lado el aspecto variopinto. Un disco obligado este año y otra de los mejores discos del año sin duda alguna. La producción es impecable y la mejor hasta la fecha. Antes de terminar me gustaría decir que es cojonudo cuando eres testigo de la creación completa de un disco, desde el proceso de composición hasta el final, ser parte de forma indirecta de la creación de uno de los discos de la nueva década no tiene precio. Si quieres saber como debe de sonar una banda de gothic rock no tradicional en el nuevo milenio sin caer en la etiqueta de alternativo, solo tienes que escuchar “Mirrors” y en jerga de dj, un disco muy pinchable.
